1201 Normandy Place

2023 | PHILADELPHIA, PA

Project Overview

Part of the Ensemble and Mosaic $400 M
phase-one development of the Navy Yard,
1201 Normandy Place is the first biomedical research lab space of the initiative. The state-of-the-art life sciences building serves as the gateway into the Navy Yard’s new downtown corridor.

To achieve the architectural and LEED design goals, Ensemble and Mosaic assembled a diverse and accomplished team. Building on the existing biomedical research hub at the Navy Yard, 1201 Normandy Place will provide a high-functioning life sciences space complete with a loading dock. Efficiently organized for flexibility, each floor connects lab space to office support. Additionally, each floor will be provided with a shared balcony to further encourage group collaboration. The team has creatively managed the various challenges related to building a biomedical research space within close proximity to an occupied office, as well as proposed residential and garage spaces. It has taken thoughtful coordination to plan the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
